Does Microneedling Work? Procedures for Microneedling Treatments

Microneedling is an invasive procedure for the skin, where thin needles make tiny holes in the top layer or dermal of the skin. This skin-rejuvenating procedure stimulates the skin to produce more collagen and elastin, making the skin firm, soft, and smooth. It is usually done on the face, but many people also get it on areas with aging signs, such as the legs, back, and neck.

    • How is microneedling done?

A handheld device with tiny needles is used. The device is rolled across the skin along with the needles, which pierce the skin. This treatment is done after applying a numb cream to the area and takes around 30 minutes to an hour to complete. This procedure helps the body generate new collagen and elastin, which heals the body from the needle penetrations. • What happens after a microneedling procedure?

Microneedling is an outpatient procedure; the skin can appear red and swollen for five days. You must apply an ice pack to relieve irritation and discomfort. Avoid wearing makeup right after the procedure, and stay away from the sun to allow the skin to heal. If the skin appears dry and flaking, consult the dermatologist to provide a clinically tested moisturizer.

    • Does microneedling hurt?

No, microneedling does not hurt as the healthcare practitioner would numb the area by applying numb cream, and later, your skin might appear pink or have tiny punctuated scabs that fade away within a few days.

    • What is the usefulness of microneedling?

Microneedling can improve the texture and impression of the skin. It also minimizes scars, wrinkles, stretch marks, and other concerns. There is no risk of skin discoloration, and it is also ideal for individuals with darker skin tones.

    • What is the result of microneedling?

Microneedling results show after a few weeks when the skin feels tighter. Some people require multiple microneedling, usually spaced three weeks to 7 weeks apart. You might have to wait three to six months for the result. You also need to go through the procedure once a year for maintenance.

    • Who can consider getting microneedling?

If a person is concerned about enlarged pores, fine lines, wrinkles, mild scars, acne, burns, skin discoloration, uneven skin tone, or stretch marks, then microneedling can be considered. This cosmetic treatment is also meant for people with alopecia areata and hyperhidrosis. It is not exclusively meant for the face and is used for hair restoration and skin that needs thickening, such as legs and chest.

    • Who should not get microneedling?

Before getting microneedling, you need to take extra precautions if you have any of these conditions: acne, blood disorder, cancer, frequent skin rashes, moles, freckles, eczema, or keloidal tendency.

    • What are the risks of microneedling?

Microneedling is safe to produce, but being a cosmetic surgery, it too has risks, such as – bruising, skin infection, and scarring. With microneedling San Marcos, every precaution is taken to minimize the risk and provide the best results.

    Conclusion

Microneedling requires minimally invasive procedures to improve the texture of the skin. Before getting one, talk and consult with the healthcare provider. Ask them whether you are a suitable candidate and whether it can be performed at home. It would be best to have patience to achieve the desired results; often, multiple treatments are required over several months.
