List of Ziyarat Places to Visit During Umrah Journey
Although there is a long list of places to visit during your Umrah journey, we’ll shorten the list for you to help prioritize the places during your visit. These places include:
Caves of Hira
Hira is a cave located 2 miles outside the vicinity of Makkah, on the top of Jabal-al-Noor Mountain. This is the cave where the prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H. used to stay for usually three consecutive days and nights to pray to Allah and meditate. Some scholars also share the point of view that He used to head to the cave to escape the ignorant pilgrimage rituals of idolatrs such as, women dancing naked around Ka’abah.
This is the same cave where prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H received the first revelation and the status of prophethood. There is no doubt that Muslims revere this place and desire to pray in the same place where the Prophet P.B.U.H used to. Recently, the KSA government has paved a new way up to the cave to make it easy for pilgrims to reach there. Pilgrims can even take their cars up to a certain limit on the mountain. For pilgrims opting for December Umrah packages, visiting this place becomes easier due to pleasant weather conditions.
Quba Mosque
Situated 15 minutes outside Medina, Quba is the first mosque of Islam founded by the prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H Himself. The mosque was built when the prophet P.B.U.H was migrating from Makkah towards Medina.
This mosque is considered one of the most revered places for Muslims where the reward of reading only two ‘Nawaafil’ is equal to an accepted Umrah. These details certainly explain the importance of this place for Muslims as well as its place in Islamic history. The mosque is not just a place for Muslims to pray but it also serves as a madrassa, a town hall, and a cabinet.
Uhud
This is the place of the second Islamic battle where Muslims showed immense bravery but also got heavily flanked by the enemy. Visitors can see the small hill where the Prophet asked 70 of His archers to stand alert. They were ordered not to leave it but didn’t follow the command. Khalid bin Waleed took benefit of the situation and attacked from behind the hills. Pilgrims can see the mountain of Uhud that opened for the Prophet during that time and gave Him a place to stay. Due to this act of the mountain, the Prophet declared:
“This mountain loves us and we love it”
Pilgrims availing December Umrah packages can also observe the graves of 70 of the Prophet’s companions martyred during the battle. They can observe the grave of the beloved uncle of the Prophet, Ameer Hamza R.A., and pray for all these pious people.
Cave of Thaur
This cave is located on the Thaur mountain where the Prophet stayed with His loyal friend Abu Bakr R.A during migration. A famous event took place here when the idolaters of Makkah came here searching for the Prophet. They wanted to enter the cave but then two miracles happened there that saved the Prophet’s life. The idolaters saw a spider had cobbed a web at the cave’s front and a pigeon had laid its eggs around the same spot. They left the place thinking that the spider’s web wouldn’t have been there if someone entered the cave.
Pilgrims availing December Umrah packages can head to this cave and revisit the loyalty of Abu Bakr R.A. During their stay, a snake tried to enter the cave through a small hole. The Prophet was sleeping with His head on Abu Bakr’s lap. Abu Bakr R.A. didn’t want to move so he placed his toe on the hole where the snake bit him. He didn’t remove his toe and even moved from his place fearing to wake up the Prophet.
Mosque of Ayesha R.A
This mosque is one of the popular ziyarat sites for pilgrims as they can prepare to enter the state of Ihram and perform Umrah. The mosque is located 7.5 km south of Makkah on the way to Madinah. This is the spot where Hazrat Ayesha R.A entered the state of Ihram on the special approval of the Prophet P.B.U.H.
This mosque which is also known as Taneem, is declared as Miqat, a place from where pilgrims enter the state of Ihram. The place is equipped with facilities for pilgrims like washrooms, bathing, and changing areas. Visitors availing December Umrah packages can pray nawaafil in the mosque, explore the whole area, and then prepare for their Umrah.
